Guides for getting the most out of CellarFox. Looking for quick answers instead? See the FAQ.

Getting Started

Adding your first bottles

Tap the + button in the app (or “Add Bottle” on the web dashboard) and start typing the producer or wine name — CellarFox suggests matches from its wine database and fills in region, grapes, and drinking windows for you. If a wine isn't found, add it manually and everything else still works.

Importing from CellarTracker or a spreadsheet

In the app, go to Profile → Import from CellarTracker and follow the wizard. On the web, the dashboard's Import button accepts CSV and Excel files. The importer maps your columns automatically and shows you a preview before anything is saved.

Setting up cellars and storage locations

Create one cellar per physical location (the basement, the wine fridge, offsite storage) and optionally add racks, shelves, or bins inside each. Every bottle remembers exactly where it lives, so you can find it when the moment comes.

Your Cellar, Day to Day

Understanding drinking windows

Each bottle shows a status: Hold (too early), Ready (drink now), or Past Peak. Windows come from vintage, producer, and appellation data, and you can override them per bottle if you disagree — your cellar, your rules.

What are Fox Picks?

Fox Picks are tonight's recommendations: bottles from your own cellar that are ready to drink, matched to the occasion or the food you tell the fox about. The more you drink and rate, the better the picks get.

Recording a bottle you drank

Open the bottle and tap “Drink”. The bottle moves to your history, your stock count updates, and the next morning the app will ask how it was — that feedback tunes your future recommendations.

Plans & Billing

Managing or cancelling your subscription

Where you manage your plan depends on where you bought it. If you subscribed on the web, use Profile → Manage Subscription in the app (or the web dashboard) and you'll be taken to the secure Stripe billing portal. If you subscribed through Google Play, the same menu opens your Play subscription instead.

What's included in Enthusiast?

Everything in the free tier, plus the Vault (live bottle-level market values from Wine-Searcher), unlimited bottles, and priority access to new features. Available monthly, annually, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Nothing is deleted, ever. You lose access to Enthusiast-only features like the Vault, but your collection, history, and notes stay exactly where they are.

The Mobile App

Where can I get the app?

CellarFox for Android is on Google Play. iOS is on the roadmap — in the meantime, cellarfox.com works great in the browser on any device.

Signing in

Use Google Sign-In or a magic link — we email you a sign-in link, no password to remember. If a magic link doesn't arrive, check spam and make sure you typed the same address you registered with.

Daily reminders

The morning after you record a drink, CellarFox sends one gentle notification asking how the bottle was. You can switch this off any time in Profile → Daily reminders.

Your Data

Exporting your collection

Your data is yours. In the app, Profile → Export Collection generates a CSV of every bottle — producer, vintage, location, purchase details, drinking windows — and hands it to the share sheet so you can save or send it anywhere.

Privacy

Your collection is private by default and never shared, sold, or exposed to third parties. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe or Google Play — we never see your card details.

Deleting your account

Email support@cellarfox.com from your account address and we'll permanently delete your account and all associated data. We'd recommend exporting your collection first.
