When you first sign in, we ask one question — what brings you here. If you're here to organise wine you own, we take you straight to importing or adding bottles. If you're just getting into wine, or you love drinking it but never built a collection, pick "Explore what I like" and we drop you into your taste profile — quick this-or-that rounds, no bottles required. Either way you can do the other later; nothing is locked. Once your palate's mapped, we'll gently suggest starting a cellar if you'd like one.

On the web dashboard, click Add Bottle and start typing the producer or wine name — say "Produttori del Barbaresco" — and CellarFox fills in the region, grapes, and drinking window for you. The web has no camera, so when you've a stack of bottles to enter, the fast routes are importing a spreadsheet or scanning labels with the Android app. Adding one bottle for tonight is quick by hand; cataloguing a whole rack isn't.

If your cellar already lives in a spreadsheet or CellarTracker, you don't need to retype a thing. On the web, click Import on the dashboard — it takes CSV and Excel, maps your columns for you, and shows you a full preview before a single bottle is saved. In the app, import is offered when you first set up, and any time from the Import button on the cellar screen (or Profile → Import from CellarTracker). Bring your messiest export; the preview is there so nothing lands wrong.

Make one cellar per physical spot — the cellar proper, each wine fridge, the case in offsite storage — then add racks, shelves, or bins inside if you want that detail. Every bottle remembers exactly where it sits, so when the 2015 Rioja is finally ready you know which fridge to open, not which to rummage through.

Fox Picks answer the question every collector knows — you're standing in front of the cellar and have no idea what to open. They're a short list drawn from your own bottles that are ready to drink right now, matched to the occasion or the dish you mention. The more you drink, rate, and play your taste profile, the better the picks read you.

Open a Pomerol three years early and you've wasted it; forget a white Burgundy at the back of the fridge and you've wasted it the other way. Each bottle carries a clear status — Hold (too early), Ready (now), or Past Peak — built from vintage, producer, and appellation data. Disagree with a call? Override the window per bottle. Your cellar, your judgement.

Open the bottle and tap Drink. It moves into your history, your stock count drops by one, and the next morning the app asks a single question — how was it? A quick answer there is what teaches CellarFox your taste, so the next pick lands closer to the mark.

Everything you tell CellarFox feeds one taste model — the bottles you rate after drinking, the rounds you play in your taste profile, a quick thumbs-up on a grape you love. Each signal sharpens the same map, and a sharper map means picks that feel less like a guess and more like a recommendation from someone who's drunk with you for years.

It's a living picture of your palate across a handful of axes — crisp versus rich whites, light versus bold reds, a touch of sweetness or bone-dry, old-world restraint versus new-world ripeness, and how far off the beaten path you like to roam. You build it by playing quick this-or-that rounds, no bottles required. And it's honest: where it hasn't learned you yet, it says so rather than pretending. The gaps fill in as you play.

Open Taste and answer plain either-or questions — "which white are you reaching for tonight?" Every choice nudges your map, and you'll watch it shift as you go. There are no right answers and nothing to finish; play three rounds with your morning coffee or thirty on a slow Sunday. It picks up exactly where you left it.

When you genuinely haven't met either option, don't guess — tap "I'm not sure." It turns into Tasting Homework: two bottles to track down, each with a shop-ready description you can read straight to your merchant. Pour them side by side some evening, notice which one you reach for again, then come back and answer. That's not a quiz question filled in — that's a thing you now know about your own palate.

There's always a suggestion waiting — "Your next discovery" — drawn from your own map. Early on it points you toward a style it hasn't placed yet, to fill in the blanks. Once your palate is clear, it goes deeper into the territory you already love — the next Northern Rhône syrah or Mosel riesling you'll be glad you found.

Once your map is confident enough to stand behind it, CellarFox names your palate type — one of a dozen reads like The Sun-Soaked Hedonist, The Old-World Purist, or The Bright Modernist — on a card built from your own confident leanings. Share it straight from the app: on the phone it hands a clean image to your share sheet (Story-ready), and on the web it's a link that unfurls into the card. It's a bit of fun with a real read underneath. Curious how your partner or your most opinionated friend would land?

Add a partner and play together — take turns guessing each other's answers, then revealing the real ones. You'll see where your palates line up and where they cheerfully part ways (you, the Barolo; them, the Champagne). Each of you keeps a map of your own, and there's a shared household view for the nights you're choosing one bottle for the table.

No. Building your taste profile is free, and it's a fine way to start before you've added a single bottle. The Enthusiast tier is what puts that profile to work — actively tuning your Fox Picks from it — and it's where the Fox Vault arrives at full launch.

Most collectors can name what they paid years ago but not what a bottle is worth today. When it launches, the Vault will close that gap — showing the current market value of each bottle, and of the whole collection, powered by Wine-Searcher and refreshed nightly (not real-time, but never stale). It's part of the Enthusiast tier, and the figures behind it are the ones you'd want for an insurance valuation.

Not yet. The Vault is in final development and switches on at full launch — so for now you'll see an honest "awaiting full launch" note where the values will be, never a number we can't stand behind. It's switched off, not broken, and your bottles and data are completely untouched in the meantime. Founding Members get the Vault the day it opens, at the founding price for life — the offer is at /founding.

Fox Balance is the honest read on your cellar: how it splits by colour, region, and price; how many bottles are ready now versus still holding; whether you're buying faster than you drink; and the gaps worth filling. It's the view that catches the forty Bordeaux quietly outnumbering everything else — and the dozen whites all peaking the same year. It refreshes as your cellar changes.

Everything in the free tier — and free already gives you unlimited bottles and the full cellar — plus your taste profile actively tuning your Fox Picks, the Fox Vault (bottle-level market value, arriving at full launch), and priority access to what comes next. Pay monthly, annually, or once for lifetime access.

Where you manage it depends on where you bought it. Subscribed on the web? Go to Profile → Manage Subscription (in the app or the web dashboard) and you'll land in the secure Stripe billing portal. Subscribed through Google Play? The same menu opens your Play subscription instead. Either way it's a couple of taps, and you can cancel without writing to us.

Nothing is deleted — not a bottle, not a note. You simply lose access to the Enthusiast-only features; your collection, drinking history, tasting notes, and taste profile all stay exactly where they are, ready for whenever you come back.

CellarFox for Android is live on Google Play. iOS is coming soon — and until it lands, cellarfox.com works well in any mobile browser, so iPhone collectors aren't left out, just camera-free for now.

Point the Android app at a label and it reads the wine and adds the bottle in seconds — the fastest way to capture what's in your hand, whether that's a new delivery or something you spotted in a shop. (The web has no camera, so there you import a spreadsheet or add by hand.)

Use Google Sign-In, or a magic link — we email you a one-tap sign-in link, so there's no password to forget. If the link doesn't arrive, check your spam folder and make sure you used the same address you registered with.

The morning after you record a drink, CellarFox sends a single notification asking how the bottle was — one a day at most, never a stream of nudges. It's the easiest way to keep your taste profile honest, but switch it off any time in Profile → Daily reminders.

Your collection is yours to take, anytime. In the app, Profile → Export Collection builds a CSV of every bottle — producer, vintage, location, purchase details, drinking windows — and hands it to the share sheet to save or send wherever you like. No lock-in, no asking permission.

Your collection is private by default — never shared, never sold, never handed to a third party. Payments run entirely through Stripe or Google Play, so your card details never touch our systems. What's in your cellar is no one's business but yours.

Email hello@cellarfox.com from your account address and we'll permanently delete your account and everything tied to it — no retention period, no quiet backups. Export your collection first, though, because once it's gone it's gone for good.
